What is a PEM hole?
PEM® brand fasteners utilize self-clinching, broaching, flaring, surface mount, or weld technology to provide strong, reusable, and permanent threads and mounting points in thin sheet metal, P.C. board materials, and other ductile or non-ductile thin material.
How do you insert a PEM fastener?
PEM® Brand Fasteners Installation Demo
- Prepare properly sized mounting hole in sheet.
- Place shank of nut into mounting hole, preferably the punch side.
- With punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply squeezing force until the head of the nut comes into contact with the sheet material.
Why PEM nuts are used?
There are many advantages of PEM brand self-clinching fasteners. Remarkably, the fasteners provide strong, permanent attachment in metal as thin as 0.20 mm / 0.008”. Installation involves any parallel acting squeezing force. Additionally, they have high push-out and torque-out performance.
How do I install PEM standoff?
PEM® self-clinching standoffs install with a squeeze in properly sized round mounting holes and become permanently mounted in the thin sheet. These standoffs enable components to be stacked or spaced away from the panel in an assembly. All standoffs are installed into round mounting holes.
How do you install clinch studs?
TR Self-Clinch Stud Installation Punch the hole diameter into the sheet material and place the material on top of the appropriate anvil. Place the stud so that the head serrations rest on the parent material. Ensure both plate and stud are aligned along the same axis.

What size screws do I need for PEM self-clinching locking fasteners?
Screws for use with PEM self-clinching locking fasteners should be Class 3A/4h fit or no smaller than Class 2A/6g. S™/SS™/CLA™/CLS™/CLSS™ nuts provide load-bearing threads in thin sheets with high pushout and torque-out resistance – PAGES 4 and 5
What is the thickness of pemserter tooling?
PEMSERTER® Installation Tooling Tooling for sheet thicknesses less than .052” / 1.31 mm with 1/4” / M6 thread sizes, and less than .067” / 1.71 mm with 5/16” / M8 thread sizes.
